The warm weather is finally here after an extremely long and tiring winter. This usually comes with a desire to clean and reorganize your home. Here is our 5-step, 5-day process on how to completely transform your home!
Day 1 – Planning
Get that notebook out and sit down with the other members of your household. Try to establish everyone’s responsibilities based on what needs to be cleaned and put away. Then determine the size of the dumpster bin that you’ll need. Luckily Mr. Waste has plenty of options at your service. Next, you should see what items are donatable and whether or not you’ll have to call those charities to schedule a pick-up. Lastly, make a trip to your local home improvement store and purchase any necessary organization materials such as a storage bin.
Day 2 – Closets and Bathrooms
It’s best to focus on small rooms for your first actual cleaning day. For instance, closets and bathrooms are actually more challenging and time-consuming to clean compared to living rooms. Bathrooms are simple when it comes to decluttering. The goal with bathrooms is to look for any expired and empty products. With closets, you will need to decide which clothes are worth throwing out or giving away.
Day 3 – Bedrooms
Bedrooms will be much easier once you have tackled the closets. Get yourself a decent amount of trash bags to collect old and unwanted items for disposing in the dumpster. Make sure you don’t forget to check under each bed. Once you have all this checked off, it’s time to decide if any decoration or furniture needs to be removed to give your home a more spacious feel.
Day 4 – Attic and Garage
These two places typically end up becoming a storage place for a lot of items that you probably have a hard time letting go. This is the time you muster up the courage to get in there and get rid of that broken lawn mower or crippled lawn chair. Now that winter is over, it’s the perfect opportunity to go through all the holiday gear as well, such as broken Christmas lights.
Day 5 – Kitchen and Living Areas
The final day of action is dedicated to the kitchen and other living areas. Again, the challenge with clutter is deciding whether or not it’s worth keeping. Do you have an extra kettle or coffee machine that you no longer use? Maybe you have cleared out space elsewhere during the challenge or maybe it is time to finally let it go. You will feel less anxious in the kitchen and more at ease knowing it’s not going to be difficult to find something.
Finally, on day six you get to enjoy your fresh clean home!
