Waste Removal for General Contractors

General contractors are responsible for managing and building a project designed by someone else. They oversee important renovation and building projects; she or he manages and hires subcontractors and other labor in construction projects. The GC acts as the supervisor of the entire project. It’s a lot of work- if you’re a general contractor, you’re in luck because Mr. Waste has you covered on the waste removal part of the project. Follow our general contractor’s guide to waste removal to make your job easier!

Packing Your Bin

There are various types of materials you may need to throw out when carrying out a contracting project, this is why a mixed waste bin is a suitable option although clean fill bins may also be used. These bins are sturdy, and can carry a lot, but there are limits, you want to avoid putting too many heavy materials inside your dumpster rental. A bin can be loaded to the top rail, although there needs to be enough space to cover the bin with a tarp upon removal. Despite being built to handle very heavy loads, an overload of items is feasible.

Hazardous Materials

You want to check and double check to make sure no hazardous materials are being thrown into your bin. Here is a list of items that are not accepted in Mr. Waste dumpster bins:

  • propane tanks
  • ammunition
  • leftover paint, paint cans and paint thinner, stains and varnish
  • household cleaning products
  • batteries
  • fluorescent light bulbs
  • tires, motor oil, gasoline and antifreeze
  • aerosol cans
  • pesticides and fertilizers
  • pharmaceuticals and bio-medical waste

Common materials that are accepted in dumpster rental bins are:

  • concrete blocks
  • wood
  • roofing shingles
  • plastic
  • metal
  • drywall
  • asphalt
  • brick
  • stone
  • ceramic

As well as:

other construction and building materials and demolition materials

  • other non-hazardous materials of any kind

Bin Sizes

Most contracting projects are larger, and deal with the disposal of heavier materials. It’s probably a good idea to look at the larger bins we offer. The 30 or 40 yard bins are our largest, and may be ideal. They are commonly used for large demolitions, large construction sites, large home cleanups and remodelling.

When renting a Mr. Waste bin, waste removal is one less thing to worry about when running a construction project. We make things clear and concise. We’ll carefully drop the bin off onto your driveway, placing wooden planks under the bin to avoid damage to your driveway and when you’re done using it, we’ll take it off your hands.
